Customer Challenge
Tune.FM, a music streaming platform built on blockchain technology, needed a production-ready AWS hosting model that could scale with user growth while meeting enterprise security and compliance requirements. The existing environment had critical gaps:
- Operational bottleneck: A single engineer controlled all deployments and troubleshooting, creating a bus-factor risk for the entire platform
- Security vulnerabilities: Hard-coded secrets, shared credentials, and publicly accessible backend resources
- No governance framework: No centralized logging, no automated audit trails, and no standardized operational procedures
- Scaling limitations: Fixed server resources that couldn't handle traffic spikes during platform events

EFS Networks delivered an AWS application modernization engagement followed by ongoing managed services operations. The solution addressed both the immediate infrastructure gaps and the long-term operational requirements.
Infrastructure Modernization
- Amazon ECS on Fargate: Containerized application services running in private subnets, eliminating server management overhead and enabling horizontal scaling
- AWS CloudFormation: Full Infrastructure as Code for reproducible, version-controlled deployments across environments
- Amazon VPC: Public and private subnet architecture separating internet-facing components from internal services behind an Application Load Balancer
- Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL: Multi-AZ deployment with automated backups, encryption via AWS KMS, and point-in-time recovery
- Amazon ElastiCache for Redis: Managed Redis cluster for session caching and real-time data processing
- Amazon OpenSearch Service: Search and analytics engine replacing a self-managed Elasticsearch instance
- Amazon CloudFront + AWS WAF: CDN for media streaming with web application firewall protection
- Amazon S3: Media asset storage with lifecycle policies for cost-optimized tiering
- AWS Secrets Manager: Centralized secret storage with automated rotation, replacing all hard-coded credentials
- AWS Control Tower: Customer account onboarded into EFS Networks' landing zone for standardized guardrails and governance

The modernization was the beginning of the engagement, not the end. EFS Networks provides continuous managed services for Tune.FM's AWS environment, covering the full operational lifecycle:
Monitoring & Incident Response
24/7 monitoring of all production services with automated alerting and defined escalation procedures. CloudWatch dashboards track application health, infrastructure metrics, and cost trends. Incidents are triaged, resolved, and documented with root cause analysis.
Security Operations
Ongoing secrets management practices including rotation schedules and access reviews. Encryption controls across RDS, S3, and EBS volumes via AWS KMS. Regular IAM policy reviews to maintain least-privilege access. AWS CloudTrail audit logging for all API activity.
Patch & Lifecycle Management
ECS task definitions and container images are updated on a regular cadence to address security patches and dependency updates. RDS engine versions are upgraded during planned maintenance windows with rollback procedures.
Backup & Recovery Verification
RDS automated snapshots are verified monthly with test restores. S3 versioning is enabled for all critical buckets. Recovery procedures are documented and tested quarterly to ensure RTO and RPO targets remain achievable.
Cost & Performance Reviews
Monthly reviews of AWS spend with right-sizing recommendations. Quarterly optimization assessments covering reserved capacity planning, storage tiering, and architectural improvements as usage patterns evolve.
Change Management
All production changes follow a defined change management process — peer-reviewed infrastructure code, staged deployments, automated rollback triggers, and post-deployment verification.
