Building A Telephony Solution With Asterisk For Reeds Resort

Who They Are

The Reeds at Shelter Haven – voted one of Condé Nast Traveler “World’s Best Hotels” - is a luxury boutique hotel in the shore town of Stone Harbor, New Jersey.  The Reeds needed a complex phone system to work with the unique requirements of a hotel's many moving parts on a daily basis.

Objective

  • Reeds needed both an on-premise and cloud based Asterisk backed telephony system.
  • The new phone system should work with both VOIP and analog endpoints.
  • The updated phone system should work with numerous VOIP hardware manufacturers such as Polycom, Cisco, and Aastra for back of house endpoints.
  • To create housekeeping room clean codes, automated guest wakeup calls, front desk 911, and accounting integrations.

Solutions

  • EFS built a custom Asterisk module that satisfied the unique requirements of hotel telphony.
  • Through a partnership with DuVoice, we integrated Asterisk with Property Management System Integration (PMS) Systems such as Opera, Maestro, Agilysys and Infor.
  • The completed telephony implementation provided Caller ID, accounting integration, 911 alerting system, voicemail integrations, housekeeping room clean codes, automated guest wake up calls, and extension activate/deactivate with guest room check in status to name a few.
  • As a result of the successful implementation, EFS Networks was recognized by Cetis - the world's largest provider of telephone endpoints.

The Results

Using the power of Asterisk, and our knowledge of advanced Property Management System Integration, we set up The Reeds Resort for the ability to service the needs of their hotel guests and staff. Integrating with existing older phones, and adding in the cutting edge of VOIP units, allowed for an advanced system to be in place. Our VOIP telphony expertise is not just limited to the hotel industry, allowing us to continue to grow our knowledge and connections with the industry at scale.
